| Cuisine forms a large part of the Torre del Mar culture of this region and it can be divided into two different parts. One from the inland villages where flavours are combined, the speciality being rabbit stew; and the coast with the basic ingredient being fresh fish caught daily along the coast. | One of the most important Torre del Mar attractions is the sixteenth century parish church of Santa María La Mayor, (Great St. Mary’s), built on the site of an ancient mosque. It was around this church that the old town began to grow up. The tower is worth noting for its square shape. | |
